“Athlete” will always be a badge we wear
And that’s probably how it should be. For years, we toiled for hours and made countless sacrifices to excel in our sport. We molded our bodies. We established life-long friendships with our teammates. We learned important lessons and created some of our most cherished memories.
Then, one day. Whether by choice or by force, our time as a competitive athlete comes to an end. The texts from Coach stop. Calendars that used to be filled with practices and game days get taken up instead by work meetings.
For some, the transition is devastating. For others, relieving. However, for everyone, there is a shift. Life is just different after.
“Run Along” seeks to shed light on the lived experiences of the athlete once the floodlights go out.
